Demonstration Farm

The project site is a 5-acre piece of land called MRC (Mandaram Resource Center) just outside of Madanapalle in Andhra Pradesh, South India.  There we are setting up a demonstration center where we showcase innovative organic agroforestry plots using local species. The successful implementation of these pilot plots will encourage more local farmers to follow this method.  Besides, we also advocate other sustainable ways of using resources, such as rainwater harvesting, bio-gas, composting toilets, and more. The long-term vision is to create a hub for schools, farmers and individuals to learn about organic farming, climate change, environmental protection and other related areas.

Implementation of a variety of plots with different organic agroforestry designs.

"Agroforestry can be defined as a dynamic, ecologically based, natural resource management system that, through the integration of trees on farms and in the agricultural landscape, diversifies and sustains production for increased social, economic and environmental benefits for land users at all levels."
